Dear Sir or Madam:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you and the public that effective Friday, January 23, 2009 Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand is no longer a candidate in the 2010 election for the 20th District of New York in the United States House of Representatives.  She will no longer seek nomination or election to the United States House of Representatives, and has ceased to conduct campaign activities with respect to the aforementioned election.  

Congresswoman Gillibrand is now a candidate for the United States Senate in the 2010 election and will henceforth be conducting campaign activities only in pursuit of that office.  She will also amend her Statement of Organization to change the name of her campaign committee from Gillibrand for Congress to Gillibrand for Senate and will file a Statement of Candidacy with the Secretary of the Senate.
